Recent Success

It was great to see some more recent success coming from a couple of our golfers at the weekend.

On Saturday Dave Richards finished in second place at the recent Men's County Amateur Championship at Shrewsbury Golf Club.

On a testing day with firm, fast greens, Dave ground out two solid rounds.  Sitting 10th after the morning round of 75, he shot the lowest 2nd round with a 2 over 72, to claim second place outright, 4 shots behind the winner James Showell of Shifnal.

Additionally Oswestry finished 2nd in the team event, with Dave, Louis Rickett and Scott Harris coming within just 8 shots of toppling Shifnal.

ABERCONWY SUCCESS

Followed up on Sunday by Tom Matthews winning the Prestigious Aberconwy trophy of 72 gruelling holes at Conwy and then Maesdu.

With high winds and rain playing havoc, Tom finished strong coming home in 3 under for the last 6 holes to claim a 4 shot victory

Tom now heads off to try and pre-qualify for the British Amateur Championship.
