Greens Committee Meeting 15/04/24
Your new Greens Committee consisting of Gary Barnfield, Geoff Broster, Scott Harris, Chris Male, Judith Thornell, Ken Whyte and Ian Pearce (Course Director) met for the first time on Monday 15th April 2024. The minutes of this meeting are available on the website under Information.
Since that meeting our Tree Representative Judith has walked the course and will be producing a tree report.
You will notice white lining on the course, we are making slight adjustments to the contours of the fairways and we think these will enhance the course.
The carry to the fairway on the first has been increased by a few yards to take the start of the fairway past the wet area on the left and clear the trees. The semi on the right at the top of the hill has been brought in slightly.
On the right of the 6th fairway the semi has been increased slightly into the fairway.
On the left of the seventh the semi has been increased to make the dog leg more pronounced. The approach to the green has been narrowed.
The start of the 10th fairway has been rounded off to make both sides equal.
As a trial to prevent the bank from burning off on the 14th we are letting the fairway grow to semi height for 45 yards.
The fairway left of the approach to the eighteenth green has been brought in to narrow the entrance and give it more shape.
Please replace all divots, use the divot bags and repair pitch marks on the greens.

COURSE INFORMATION
PLANNED WORK FOR MAY
Since the start of September 2023 we have had 31 inches of rain, one of the wettest winters on record but despite this the Course has recovered extremely well. We were able to carry out the Spring renovations on greens (hollow coring and top dressing) and tees (solid tining, top dressing and over seeding). To date the greens have had over 30 tonnes of top dressing applied. Greens, approaches and tees have all had a spring application of fertiliser.
Throughout this month cutting will be continuous as the growth has really kicked off now and the height of cut has been lowered on greens, approaches, tees and fairways.
All aeration and chemical programmes will continue and the greens turf iron will be used to improve trueness and speed.
Another 10 tonnes of top dressing will go on greens and work will continue on bunkers to achieve more consistent depths of sand.
All work will, of course, being weather permitting.
